on the gen AI landscape, from @sonyatweetybird

The days when humans and AI collaborate on projects have begun... 😳

Whether you're writing an article, coding software, recording a podcast, managing an office, or making digital art, there are now intelligent tools to help you work more creatively and efficiently.

Wanna know what's happening across all these AI use cases?

@sonyatweetybird from VC firm Sequoia has put together this awesome Gen AI Market Map detailing the first companies to cross the AI frontier.

hey I’m new to web3! What's gen AI?

Generative AI tools are the next stage in consumer software.

Developers teach their AI bots to "read" using language-learning models, then feed them millions of articles, images, and other media.

After taking in all this info, gen AI bots can respond to prompts submitted by users, making their own "original" content.

They can create images in specific styles, write text to match tone and vocabulary, and even read and organize documents for an entire company.

Right now, people are becoming skilled prompt engineers, learning how to control AI bots to help realize their creative visions.

We covered one of these gen AI projects – Lex, the intelligent Google Doc – in detail a few days ago. Check it out:

on October crashes and Boomer pensions, from @RaoulGMI

If you follow market trends, you'll know October is traditionally a risky month for potential downturns and stock crashes.

@RaoulGMI wrote this thread highlighting similarities between the '29, '74, '87, '90, '97, and '08 October crashes... and the current month.

sure, but why do web3 people care about markets and pensions?

One web3 narrative is that blockchain assets are "a hedge against inflation."

By using tech to widen the gap between government and currency, crypto maxis (degen slang for big believers) think it's possible to separate digital money from the effects of the global economy.

But right now, the truth is that Bitcoin, NFTs, and other web3 markets are closely tracking the S&P 500 and other traditional economic indicators.

As a result, every NFT holder and their bored ape dog is watching the stock market.

@RaoulGMI also points out the bad timing of the recent downturn for the average Baby Boomer's pension – and how that's affecting market and federal activity.

(Especially considering the age of most politicians and bankers...)

on 5 big NFT use cases, from @womenof_web3

Here's @womenof_web3 laying out five use cases they think will transition NFTs from blockchain jpegs into industry-spanning mega tech.

Potential supernova use cases include:

  • aligning data across supply chains,

  • making realtors and loan providers more efficient,

  • and creating the next generation of loyalty programs

hey I’m new! What's NFT utility?

"Utility" is a much-discussed concept in the NFT world.

Digital art and collectibles give owners entertainment, something to flex in social circles, and an impressive return on investment if you can play the secondary market.

But many people feel NFTs won't really take off until they offer owners more.

NFT utility refers to the benefits, opportunities, and value that a blockchain asset provides beyond being an investment in itself.

Decentra Daily believes in NFT utility!

on what your pfp says about you, from @RAnSacks

How about some friendly roasting on your Saturday morning?

Here's what @RAnSacks thinks your choice of pfp says about your web3 status – all in good fun of course!

hey I’m new! What's a pfp?

pfp stands for Profile Picture. The term refers to some of the most famous NFT collections, such as Bored Apes and CryptoPunks.

pfp collections use generative programs to mix sets of character characteristics into thousands of images – usually headshots of cartoon aliens, robots, monsters, and other cyber creatures.

In the NFT community, it's tradition to use one of these headshots as your Twitter profile picture.

and finally, on bringing up web3 at Thanksgiving, from @greg16676935420
