👮‍♂️ Words from Wiggles, AI, and a house sold as an NFT?! 🏠

Howdy there pal, fancy seeing you out here on the web3 prairies!

Welp, we all gotta look after each other around these parts – nobody should ride solo through bear market canyon.

Why don't you saddle up and take some of my alpha? I got enough to go around.

No, go on and take it now, I insist.

Let's meet up later for some beans and a campfire, and I'll tell you stories about the Great 2021 Gold Rush...

Estimated reading time: 5 minutes 20 seconds

Today's stories:

Words from Wiggles

Wiggles

Drum roll please.....badadadadadada. Introducing me! Wiggles. Newest staff member, investigative journalist, heart throb, and dedicated degen correspondent for Decentra Daily!

I'm here to bring you news from the deepest NFT rabbit holes and twisted Twitter communities.

Now, I've been meaning to appease my fans with a piece of content for the past little while since the announcement on Twitter that I was joining the team.

But I'm single and recently discovered dating apps – and that's been taking up the majority of my time. I'm 0/50, but as Wayne Gretzky says, you miss 100% of the shots you don't take.

My genesis introduction will come soon, so just relax. I'll sign autographs for you all in the coming months.

Anyways, l want to play a game. I'm going to post what caught my eye on Twitter today, then give my immediate uncensored thoughts:

People like @womenof_web3 are talking about all these disruptive technologies that NFTs and the blockchain are bringing our way... it's just way over my head. It started out like a quality thread but lost me halfway through. I see NFTs as being a way to shitpost without your friends and family knowing it's actually you. Cartoon personas that reduce personal accountability ftw.

It's absurd that this CryptoPunk has a 500 ETH offer on it. Like what universe are we living in? If you want a middle-aged bald man there are much cheaper ways to acquire one – they'll probably pay you to hang out with them.

Looks like it might be rare cause it's a 'clean Punk'? I dunno, you figure it out.

Every farmer and his wolf is talking about Wolf.Game and the price of WOOL. Event 4 is live for people to potentially earn more WOOL. Some people are going all in. If this is your retirement plan you're an insane f*cking degen... Looks like my nickname is insane f*cking degen 🤣

Gambling? Basketball? Daily Fantasy Sports? Yep. Yep. Yep. Plus that cute Jay Williams smile to market it all. Basketball is coming to Sorare. I tried my hand at their baseball fantasy sport... I sucked, so I'm looking forward to my redemption arc!

Basketball NFTs can't get any worse than NBA Top Shot, so the bar is real low here.

Ok, that's all folks. I'll try to sneak my degen content in here right before the Decentra Daily team posts so they can't muzzle me! 🤝 🍆

Lex: More mind-blowing AI

Guess I just can’t stop writing about generative AI tools!

They’re hard to ignore at the moment, with each week bringing a new project to marvel at.

So far, we’ve covered AI art platforms and AI-generated audio – so it’s only fair to give AI writing tools some of the spotlight...

The potential of AI-generated text has been quietly & consistently gathering pace for some time now, mostly spearheaded by the GPT-3 project.

GPT-3 is the third generation of a machine learning network developed by OpenAI – the San Fransisco research lab co-founded by Elon Musk. It’s currently the largest neural network ever made.

It uses vast swathes of online data to create and analyze language. As a result, is able to write responses to text prompts that appear thoughtful and human – even using relevant vocabulary and styles.

One application to put GPT-3 to good use is Lex, a Google Doc-like application with intelligent text generation built-in. Check it out:

According to the demo video in the thread above, all you need to do is type “+++” as you write, and (after a few seconds of thinking) Lex will pick up where you left off, producing passages of text that mimic your writing style and content.

Why could this be useful?

  • Don’t get stuck and start Tweeting when writers’ block strikes

  • Instantly generate a bunch of headings, titles, posts, variations

  • Brainstorm content ideas with the bot

  • Write some beginnings and let the bot finish things off?

  • Save time and delegate low-level copywriting tasks to AI?

Lex is made by the newsletter collective Every, who say they've already been using Lex to help write their articles. Here's an example – can you spot the AI? 🤷‍♀️

Just how big will these generative art and writing tools become? Who knows.

But right now, things feel pretty radical. Almost as radical as the initial jump from analog writing to word processing software. First, technology helped make our writing more efficient; now it's making our writing richer.

Pad & pen > typewriter > MS Word > Google Docs > AI writing tools ...what d'ya think? 🤯

Will AI writing apps encourage thousands of people to write with a similar style, vocab, subject matter, perspective, etc? Probably.

Will they also give talented writers an extra set of creative tools and possibilities? You bet.

Decentra Daily is only number 23,800 on the Lex waitlist, so it won't be long until we can add an AI writer to our staff, too 😂

🏡 Here’s the NFT house that sold on Friday

Here’s the listing for 149 Cottage Lake Way on the NFT marketplace OpenSea.

As the video tour shows, it’s a very real 3-bedroom home in Columbia, South Carolina, complete with a “walkout patio, updated kitchen appliances, and a huge walk-in closet.”

On Friday, real estate investor Adam Slipakoff became the proud owner of the NFT property for $175K, making it the 3rd largest NFT sale of last weekend.

He was able to buy the home in the stablecoin currency USDC with just a few clicks – complete with blockchain DeFi financing – after it was tokenized by a web3 property company.

The details of the house, including its sale history, are now permanently written into the Ethereum smart contract and can be viewed by anyone.

So what’s the deal here?

🎉 Is this a gimmick?

Sure it is! Roofstock onChain is the company behind the sale. They’re hoping to become the first NFT property marketplace.

🏡 Will homes soon be bought and sold on the blockchain?

Probably not. People have raised issues around privacy and compatibility with traditional legal processes that need addressing before widescale adoption can happen.

🔮 But is blockchain real estate coming in the future?

We think there’s a good chance you’ll be using blockchain tech to buy & sell physical assets like homes within the next 15 years.

Do you agree?
