Canon wants to sell photos on the blockchain

Cadabra.io is the latest in a long line of big-brand efforts to do business on the blockchain.

This time, its photography juggernaut Canon that's FOMOing back into web3.

Cadabra is their NFT marketplace built for photographers and collectors, as a place to trade their snaps on the Ethereum blockchain.

Here's what you need to know

  • Cadabra will be home to exclusive curated drops & host a secondary marketplace

  • Photo NFTs will be grouped into categories (wildlife, sports, etc.)

  • Creators can offer physical prints, fulfilled through the marketplace by Canon

  • The site was previewed this week at NFT.NYC

Canon does actually have precedent in the space. They were part of the team behind a Solana NFT collection launched last year, called The Legends.

It included 1/1s and limited edition shots from big, traditional industry names.

So, no pfps, AI images, or other digital artwork on Cadabra? πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ

Sorry, doesn't look like it. This one's for the photography purists.

Which could help Cadabra find its niche in web3 as a place for serious photography.

– Plus, attract some established names from the traditional side of the industry, who have so far been scared away from the blockchain by degen JPGs. 😜

Uniswap makes it to the App Store 🍏

Uniswap has consistently ranked as one of the most popular decentralized crypto exchanges, boasting roughly 50K daily active users.

Which is another way of saying that it's a favorite destination for degens, who know how to keep their bags decentralized.

Now, Uniswap is hoping to capture a more mainstream crypto audience (while also upping usability) with an official Apple App Store app

The Uniswap Wallet will go head to head with big boys like MetaMask and Coinbase, offering a secure vault for crypto and NFTs – with the added benefit of being 100% self-custody and open-sourced.

All the features you'd want:

  • interact with Ethereum mainnet, Polygon, Arbitum and Optimism

  • manage your crypto and NFTs

  • track multiple wallets

Because Uniswap is a DEX, you'll need your own, non-custodial wallet to use the app.

Non-custodial wallet = a wallet that you hold the keys to.

If you make a wallet inside the app itself, the recovery phrase will be "securely stored in the iPhone secure enclave" and you'll have the option to "backup your recovery phrase to iCloud."

Apple took a whole month to review the wallet before letting it officially appear to Apple users. But it should now appear in the App Store in most countries.
