Art Blocks takes radical action to protect creator royalties – they launch a secondary marketplace
NFT art curators Art Blocks are taking a stance.
The platform, which has generated +$1 billion in total NFT sales, has made its own secondary marketplace – to address three "paint points" in the current space: security, authenticity, and royalties.
The marketplace is integrated into the existing Art Blocks website and it looks like this:
You can browse and shop all Art Block's NFTs through the interface, both their Curated and Presents collections.
It will also show Art Blocks NFTs aggregated from other marketplaces like OpenSea.
Defenders of royalties
There's a few reasons to like Art Blocks' new site feature:
It won't charge platform fees
All NFTs on the marketplace are verified originals
But, the real motivation here is to protect the royalties of Art Blocks artists.
Art Blocks is a strong opponent of recent moves by OpenSea to encourage a royalties-optional standard across the space.
Currently, collectors on Blur and OpenSea are only required to pay 0.5% royalties, no matter the settings applied by creators.
The Art Blocks marketplace, on the other hand, will enforce all creator royalty settings. 👍

A first look at the new HV-MTL collection
Yuga Labs has revealed more details about the next stage of its ongoing "Trial of Jimmy the Monkey" narrative.
At this point in the saga, Apes have (1) claimed their sewer passes, (2) Dookey-Dashed to rank them, and (3) burned them in "the summoning" for a power-source box:
Next, those boxes will reveal as Mechs – a collection of interdimensional robot warriors that Yuga is calling HVY-MTL.
"Mech" or "Mecha" is a term used for a genre of anime robots.

Before they can be ready for a "cosmic battle" coming later this year, the HV-MTL bots will need to evolve through several forms.
Holders can evolve their HVs by taking part in future mini-games, including an interactive HV-MTL Forge, where apes can work on their machines to make them unique:
The first HV-MTL evolution stage, "It Came Through the Rift," is due next month.
