y00ts help Solana beat Ethereum for the first time ever

Back at the beginning of the month, Solana NFTs snuck past Ethereum for the first time.

It was brief, like Neo and Trinity breaking through the clouds before falling back under. But on September 6th, Ethereum sales hit $9.3 million, while Solana brought in $10.5 million.

Like Ethereum, Solana NFTs have seen a steady flow of new buyers and activity, even as overall transaction values trend down in 2022.

The release of much-hyped y00ts from DeGods creator’s Dust labs was the main driver behind Solana NFT’s all-time high.

Reborn from plans abandoned after a DeGods hack, y00ts requires minters to submit an application for approval, and lets holders design custom traits for their “sheep”.

After launch, y00ts delayed the art reveal of their first collection to “an unspecified date in September.”

Last week, enigmatic founder Frank wrote a pretty defensive post on substack, justifying the delay and addressing fears of a rug pull. // Joe

Web3 one-liners

  • That Pulp Fiction NFT IP rights lawsuit between Tarantino and Miramax just ended in an out-of-court settlement

  • QueenE are auctioning a final NFT in their 1st gen collection, after the Queen’s death. QueenE is a Nouns fork, and like that collection, has low-res pixelated images and a strong DAO focus.

  • Ford files 19 different trademarks for virtual cars, clothing, and brand rights.

The first NFT title on the Epic Games store

Blankos Block Party, the fast-growing game in which you own & customize LEGO-like characters, has become the first NFT-based title on the Epic Games store.

Epic Games is the company behind Fortnite, which, alongside Microsoft’s Minecraft, form two of the biggest video games ever made.

While Microsoft has banned NFT integrations with their global mega-hit, Epic Games have taken a slightly more open-minded approach – refusing to rule out potential future tokenization on their in-house titles.

However, Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeney has said that NFTs won’t be coming to Fortnite until he feels the risk of gamers getting scammed has been addressed:

It’s possible that the listing of Blankos on Epic’s marketplace is a sign that Fortnite NFTs skins aren’t too far away – but don’t get your hopes up.

What the inclusion of Blankos does mean is that the Epic Games store has now separated itself from major rival marketplace Steam, when it comes to selling NFT titles.

Developed by Mythical Games, Blankos Block Party has over a million users and has already seen limited-edition drops from big names like Atari and Deadmau5. Trading avatars and items is possible through the game's “Mythical Marketplace.”

Coinbase tool for US voters

A few weeks ago, Coinbase committed to helping voters find out what their local representatives think about crypto, in anticipation of the November midterms.

Now, they’re coming through on that promise by loading their app with “crypto sentiment scores” for members of congress, letting you see how your politician feels about web3 stimulus, SEC regulations, and other key crypto policies.

The crypto sentiment scores are based on public statements made by the politicians, and whether or not they’ve sponsored pro-crypto legislation.

The data was collected by advocacy group Crypto Action Network, whose scorecard gives each congress member a grade.

Currently, Ted Cruz, Kirsten Gillibrand, Cynthia Lummis, and 21 others get an A. However, lots of politicians aren’t yet ranked due to a lack of public interaction with crypto & crypto policy.

Coinbase thinks that the next run of elections will be a big deal for the future of the space, so they also want to help you register to vote and (soon) allow you to donate to crypto-forward candidates.
