šŸŗ Wolf Game Sneak Peak ā›°ļø

The games that are imminent!

GM! Weā€™re back here at Decentra Daily. We had a brief holiday to get some much needed vitamin D!

Today we have some Wolf Game speculation for you!

Wolf Game

For those of you that donā€™t know Wolf Game, it is a captivating and innovative NFT (Non-Fungible Token) based game that combines elements of strategy, social interaction, and digital ownership. In this online game, players enter a thrilling world of Lands inhabited by Wolves, Sheep, and Farmers each represented by unique NFTs. These NFTs are not only in-game assets but also hold real-world value, being tradeable on various marketplaces.

The use of NFTs allows players to truly own their in-game assets, which can be played with, sold, traded, or held as they see fit. As players navigate this world, they aren't just playing a gameā€”they're participating in a cutting-edge blend of gaming and digital art.

Up until now Wolf Game has consisted of ā€œValley Gameā€ where Wolves, Sheep, Lands, and Farmer NFTs have yielded WOOL (the native currency), or resources (grass, stone, water, wood) depending on how you have played the game.

Wool and resources are going to be imperative to the Peak, which is essentially a place where head to head wagers will take place for precious WOOL (and perhaps other prizes).

Wolf Game Sneak Peak

Wolf Game Peak

We are days away from wolf game releasing the much anticipated Peak - ā€œThe Peak is the arena where Sheep and Wolves compete in all-or-nothing PvP games for WOOL prizes.ā€ - Shep

We're aware that three new games are set to make their debut on the Peak platform. However, this article contains a significant amount of conjecture, as the official details of the game mechanics have not yet been confirmed. It's anticipated that the upcoming games will include (1) Tug-of-Wool, inspired by the Colonel Blotto game, (2) Wolf Wits, a unique twist on Love Letter, and (3) a version of Hex, also known as Nash.

Letā€™s go through these one by one, and show you where you can practice.

Wolf Wits (Love Letter variation)

Here is a quick video on Love Letter.

Love Letter is a simple and popular card game that involves risk, deduction, and luck for 2ā€“4 players. Here's a simplified explanation:

Setup: Each player starts with one card in hand; the rest of the deck sits in a draw pile at the centre.

Gameplay: Players take turns drawing one card from the pile and discarding one card from their hand, applying the effects of the discarded card.

Cards' Effects: Each card has a number (representing its 'strength') and a unique effect when played. For example, a 'Guard' (number 1) allows you to guess another player's card and eliminate them if correct, while the 'Princess' (number 8, the highest) instantly eliminates you if you discard her.

Winning: The game round ends when the draw pile is exhausted, and the player with the highest number in hand wins. Alternatively, if all other players are eliminated during the round, the last player standing wins.

Play using 2 different browsers w/ one in incognito mode.

Wolf Game adaptation potential:

To adapt this to an online version with Wolf and Sheep:

Theming: Instead of the original characters in Love Letter, characters from Wolf Game will be used. For instance, 'Wolves' can replace 'Guards', 'Sheep' can replace 'Priests', and so on (including farmers and animal generations). Each character could maintain a special ability that somewhat aligns with their roles in the original Wolf Game.

Gameplay: Maintain the base mechanics of Love Letter. Each player receives a card (a character from Wolf Game), and during their turn, they draw another from the pile and choose one to discard, applying its effect.

Graphics and Animation: Simple and visually appealing online versions of the cards, complete with Wolf Game animations for different abilities when they are played. This could make the game more engaging for players.

Chat System: (Unlikely) but a chat system that allows players to discuss and speculate on who has which card. This would introduce a social deduction aspect to the game.

Tournament Mode: Incorporate a tournament mode where multiple rounds can be played, and the player with the most victories continues to move up the Peak, and is eventually declared the overall winner.

Tug of Wool (Blotto variation)

Blotto game visual

"Colonel Blotto" is a classic game of strategy in theoretical economics and game theory. Here is a simplified explanation:

Setup: Two players (for instance, Player A and Player B), each with a certain number of troops (say, 100 each), have to distribute their troops across several battlefields (for example, 5 battlefields).

Gameplay: The players assign their troops to the battlefields simultaneously and independently. Each player tries to win as many battlefields as possible by assigning more troops to a battlefield than their opponent.

Scoring: Each battlefield is won by the player who has assigned more troops to it. If both players assign the same number of troops to a battlefield, it can be considered a draw or a loss for both. The player who wins more battlefields wins the game.

Wolf Game adaptation potential:

Theming: Each player could play as a Wolf or a Sheep, with "troops" being members of their respective species. The "battlefields" could be the different Peak levels (1, 2, 3)

Gameplay: Each player decides how many of their Wolves or Sheep they want to send to each area of the forest, aiming to outnumber the opponent in as many areas as possible.

Graphics and Animation: The online version could feature an interactive land/Peak map where players drag and drop their troops into different areas, with animations showing the results of each battle.

Real-Time or Turn-Based: Depending on the desired pace of the game, it could be real-time (where players have a set amount of time to distribute their troops each round) or turn-based (where players take turns distributing their troops).

Unnamed game (Hex or Nash variation)

Hex (Nash) game

Hex is a two-player abstract strategy board game. Here's a simplified explanation:

Setup: The game is played on a diamond-shaped board made up of hexagons. The board can be of any size, but 11x11 is common. Each player is assigned two opposite sides of the board (top-bottom or left-right).

Gameplay: Players take turns placing a piece of their colour on any empty hexagon on the board.

Objective: The goal of each player is to form an unbroken chain of their own pieces connecting their two sides of the board. The chain can twist and turn any way but must be continuous from one side to the other.

Winning: The first player to complete their chain wins. It's important to note that due to the design of the game, ties are not possible.

Wolf Game adaptation potential:

Theming: The two players could represent a Wolf pack and a Sheep herd. The game board could be themed to look like a forest or wilderness area, and the pieces could be small Wolf or Sheep icons.

Gameplay: The basic gameplay would remain the same as in classic Hex. Players would take turns placing a Wolf or Sheep on the board, with the goal of connecting their two sides of the board.

Achievements and Progression: There could be achievements for winning games, completing chains of certain lengths. A progression system up the Peak could also be introduced to keep players engaged.

Summary of Speculation - SOS!

Anticipation is building for the imminent launch of the "Peak" in Q2 (we are days away from Q3) an arena for head-to-head wagering of WOOL, with three new games predicted: Tug-of-Wool, Wolf Wits, and a variation of Hex. We didnā€™t delve into how wool wagers or resources will function at the Peak, how players will progress through different Peak levels, whether wagers will increase at each level (although this seems likely), or how resources might offer players certain advantages across these games.

What we do know, is that Peak is going to be lit! May the WOOL odds be every in your favour. Get practicing!
