Top Web3 stories from the past week
1. Zuckerburg, Instagram, and Meta are here for NFTs
Hot off the press, right before we were about to send this out we heard rumblings that Zuckerberg was talking NFTs on his Facebook page!
We believe this is the one and only time Zuckerburg was outside as a child.
This post confirms that the NFT testing phase in May was successful.
Users in 100 countries will soon be able to verify and showcase their NFTs on Instagram.
Integrations with Coinbase and Dapper are coming. Making it appear both Ethereum and FLOW based NFTs will be on Meta's platforms.
Testing on Facebook for NFTs is also underway.
We'd love to get our hands on a signed Zuck's rookie card....NFT or not!
2. Tiffany's x CryptoPunks
We’re taking NFTs to the next level. Exclusive to CryptoPunks holders, NFTiff transforms your NFT into a bespoke pendant handcrafted by Tiffany & Co. artisans. You’ll also receive an additional NFT version of the pendant. Learn more: nft.tiffany.com#NFTiff#TiffanyAndCo

Tiffany's is releasing 250 CryptoPunk pendants.
Cost: 30 ETH (better be nice!)
Holder's will also receive an NFT of the pendant: Have CryptoPunk NFT > Get physical pendant of NFT > Receive of CryptoPunk pendant.....we can't keep up anymore haha.
Tiffany's has millions of social followers, and is an institution synonymous with selling luxury goods....so this is likely a win for the NFT space. Maybe now more people will start to understand the digital flex.
3. Bored Ape founders have first video interview
Wylie Aronow (Gordon Goner) & Greg Solano (Gargamel) had their first video interview, with Input Mag.
If you want to dive into all things BAYC the Input cover story is a long but good read covering all things BAYC. Here are some interesting points from it:
Aronow & Solano met at a bar in Miami, and got in a fight about David Foster Wallace. They bonded over World of Warcraft, and disagreements on each other's ideas....sounds like my marriage, minus the Warcraft.
The idea of Bored Ape Yacht Club came from crypto Twitter community interactions ("Ape in"). They "wanted to make a club, a token that gave you access to something."
They were given a 20 minute warning before they were doxxed by Buzzfeed Inc.
The founders are focused on the 'Otherside' right now, and also on how to pass the mom test, to expand their user base to non-crypto/NFT users....they want to have millions of people in the Yuga Labs ecosystem!
4. Over 7,000 Solana wallets attacked in hack
After an investigation by developers, ecosystem teams, and security auditors, it appears affected addresses were at one point created, imported, or used in Slope mobile wallet applications. 1/2

It looks like Slope wallet was the basis for the Solana hack, with plaintext seed phrases sent to external integration wallets. Making seed phrases accessible to hackers.
Phantom wallets were also affected if wallet owners imported their seed phrase from Slope wallet.
It appears the loss of funds from users was significant, in the 10's of millions perhaps.
We won't be signing up for a Slope wallet anytime soon!
5. Magic Eden expands NFT marketplace to Ethereum
Magic Ethen.

OpenSea now has some serious competition. Magic Eden, the Solana-centric NFT marketplace is integrating Etherum NFTs into the platform.
Magic Eden implementing Eth NFTs, we might see Opensea pressured to actually try now. Hopefully this brings healthy competition and a token airdrop sparking an nft run 🤞

6. Dr. Disrespect shows off the first sneak peek of a FPS game
I am blown away by @12am's first snapshot. I regularly test early-access FPS games and I was shocked by the level of polish at this stage in development. I'm overjoyed to be a #MidnightSocietyFounder and to see @DrDisrespect disrupt the gaming industry.

Dr Disrespect has 2.4M Twitter followers, and over 4M YouTube subscribers to his streaming channel, where he plays different games (mainly FPS).
He is a co-founder of Midnight Society a AAA game studio that is developing DEADROP - the first Vertical Extraction Shooter.
We aren't sure how it all ties together, but Midnight Society released NFTs on Polygon. The Founder's Pass. Here's what Dr Disrespect had to say about NFTs:
We'll be keeping our eye on this, as gaming is very much at the forefront of NFTs moving forward.
7. Japan's central bank bailing on digital currency plans
NEW: 🇯🇵 Japan’s Central Bank abandons CBDC plans due to a lack of interest from the public
— Blockworks (@Blockworks_)

You can't blame the Bank of Japan for pumping the brakes on their digital currency, as 'retail' has been absolutely rekt because of dumb crypto institutions' decisions, which in part led to the bust (and many other macro factors).
Cash is king in Japan, and this has discouraged new tech firms from prioritizing the innovation of payment methods and financial activities.
The Bank of Japan will continue to accumulate knowledge on all thinks blockchain and cryptocurrency, but will not be implementing a digital currency anytime soon for public use.
8. Muse Launching NFT album
Times are changing, Warner Records are innovating.
We're proud to be doing the first chart-eligible music NFT with global superstars Muse.
The latest format to be added to the UK Official Chart since streaming seven years ago.

Muse will release their 9th studio album - Will of the People on August 26h as and NFT.
It will be sold via the “eco-friendly” NFT platform Serenade.
Will be the first release of its kind (NFT) to qualify for the charts in the UK and Australia.
It's nice that buyers will not require a crypto wallet.
After the purchase is made on Serenade’s website, a digital wallet is created and the NFT is transferred to that wallet.
