QQL generative art project sells out for nearly $17 Million
TL;DR
Tyler Hobbsâ (Fidenza artist) new generative NFTs sold out for $16.5 million
Called QQL, minters interacted with Hobbsâ algorithm to produce their own art
Early minters got lower token IDs, with 2% royalties for all
Over $7.5 million in secondary sales already recorded (QQL Mint pass + QQL pieces)
Anyone can try the art generator
QQL, a generative art project, sold out for nearly $17 Million two weeks ago.
That's a wrap! The #QQL auction finished at 14.0 ETH. Congratulations to all the purchasers â we can't wait to see the beautiful art you create.

Blurring the line between creating and minting NFTs, QQL lets minters design their own art via a generative tool, then publish on the blockchain and collect a small royalty on secondary sales.
900 collectors bought the right to generate custom art with the QQL algorithm on Wednesday. A further 99 tokens are held back by the creators for upcoming âsurprise collaborations.â
DD says: QQL offers a neat way to produce legit art, give the community more control â and most interestingly â encourage organic rarity.
QQL was created by Tyler Hobbs and Dandelion Wist ManĂŠ, an artist and software engineer, both with track records in web3.
Tyler was the artist behind Fidenza, another highly popular generative collection, while Dandelion is co-founder of Archipelago, a marketplace for generative NFTs.
The Dutch auction happened on September 28 on Archipelago, with all 900 passes quickly scooped up for a finalized price of 14 ETH, earning the project over $16.5 million.
QQL sets no time limit on creating art, meaning holders could potentially wait years to create their tokens. But earlier minters get lower token IDs. All minters also get 2% royalties on future sales.
OpenSea shows QQL racking up impressive secondary trading volume after minting, with the QQL art pieces having down 79 ETH in volume, and the QQL Mint Pass doing a whopping 5,900 ETH in volume....yes you read that correctly.
You can try the art generator here without needing to mint or connect a wallet. Just pick a few different design options and watch the bot create a sleek, abstract pattern.
The more you know: the projectâs title letters, QQL, were also generated by a Tyler Hobbs script and donât stand for anything.
Hereâs my attempt at a QQL piece:
