Wait. Is it the weekend again?

Twisted Hank here, back with another round of web3 threads.

Web3 won't stop growing, and those threads just keep on flowing!

On the docket:

Were SBF's video game stats a 🚩?

We already know that SBF likes to play his favorite game, League of Legends, at weird times.

He's been spotted with controller in-hand during $$$ funding meetings and even while his FTX empire collapsed around him.

Whatever your opinion on SBF's gaming habits, his progress stats raise some serious questions about his cognitive abilities. 🤨

What's the latest in the FTX saga?

A couple of days ago, FTX officially filed for bankruptcy.

That means we got more info on the crazy, immoral goings-on inside FTX – plus the thoughts of temporary CEO John Ray III.

In the filing, he writes "Never in my career have I seen such a complete failure of corporate controls and such a complete absence of trustworthy financial information."

And that's coming from the guy who oversaw the bankruptcy of Enron. 😳

This thread from Blockworks summarizes the best/worst details of the document, including massive personal loans for employees to buy homes and personal items...

The FTX story is huge, insane, and not going away – even if the mainstream media seems pretty uninterested in reporting it. What's the deal with that?

Shopify's VR use case

@StrangeNative, a designer from Shopify, has found a neat use case for the Meta Quest Pro VR headset.

Using the Quest Pro's passthrough feature, physical store owners can have a cheap, portable way to map where customers spend their attention.

What makes this web3?

Not every web3 app or feature has to use the blockchain or live inside a computer.

Meta's latest headset offers a user-friendly for people to harness AR tech like eye tracking in their work and daily lives.

Democratizing access to digital tools? Sounds like a pretty web3 idea to us.

Even if you don't like what Meta's doing with creepy avatars and virtual worlds, the Quest Pro headset is a clear step forward in wearable tech!

7 free videos on how to develop blockchains

@ViktorDeFi has put together this list of blockchain development YouTube videos for beginners.

Are blockchain devs really in demand?

While there's a lot of hype around web3 hiring, blockchain development is a key area of interest for organizations working with financial systems and supply chains – that's a whole bunch!

We're also getting closer to a world of CBDCs (central bank digital currencies), meaning traditional institutions will need systems for interacting with blockchain tokens.

Plus, there's a good chance we'll all be using lots of dApps (decentralized, blockchain-based apps) in the near future, which will need designing, building, and maintaining.

Studied for a humanities degree and still don't know how to read Etherscan? We got you, bro.

Some love for the Nouns DAO

NFT collection Nouns is one of those quieter projects that's been functioning successfully for over a year now, auctioning a Noun per day.

Here, @0xDigitalOil highlights the Nouns Decentralized Autonomous Organization (DAO), the project's governing community – which has some unique features.

What is Nouns?

Nouns is a pfp NFT collection with a unique model.

Instead of releasing 10,000 artworks at once, a single Noun is auctioned per day – forever.

Every time a Noun is sold, the entire revenue goes to the DAO treasury, which currently has over 29K ETH in the bank.

Owning a Noun gives you a DAO vote, and lets you create proposals on the direction of the project and how funds are allocated.

More than 170 proposals have been created by Nouners so far, with the majority passed.

The latest DAO proposal is to sail boats with Nouns branding through NY harbor. Good idea?

Wanna Airbnb with the founder of Airbnb?

Airbnb's CEO and cofounder, @bchesky, is putting his home where his app is, by posting the guest suite in his SF house.

As you'd think, the house is the polar opposite of Brian's first listing – when he and a roommate "blew up some air mattresses" for the first-ever Airbnb guests.

What can Airbnbers expect?

According to the description, guests at Brian's house can enjoy fresh-baked cookies, endless coffee, a golden retriever, workout dates ...and most importantly, a chance to chat with the CEO.

All dates were quickly booked up, but Brian says he'll add more weekends soon.

Using AI to read your mind

Does Twisted Hank insist on including at least one AI update in every thread roundup?

Is there a better way to start Sunday mornings than a bacon sandwich?

Here's an AI innovation from the world of scientific research, via @amli_art.

What dystopian s*** are these scientists doing now?

Researchers are showing people images and recording their brainwaves.

Then, they're using AI-powered software to translate those waves back into images.

And the results look a lot like the originals.

Elon's 6 rules for "insane productivity"

@LiamKircher shares a leaked email from Elon Musk to Tesla staff, laying out 6 strategies the crazy genius recommends for staying productive at work.

What are the 6 rules?

  1. Avoid large meetings

  2. Leave a meeting if you’re not contributing

  3. Forget the chain of command

  4. Be clear, not clever

  5. Send a text instead of a meeting invite

  6. If a company rule doesn't make sense, don't follow it

But – no work on the weekend, promise?
