An official MLB NFT game that’s free to play

Sorare MLB
Sorare, the company behind an Ethereum-based fantasy soccer game, has become the official NFT game partner of the MLB.
They’re busy rolling out Sorare: MLB, another fantasy trading collection. Currently in game week 2, so you are still early.
The best bit – it’s (initially) free to play, and you can claim your first set of NFT cards, just by signing in.
What is it?
In Sorare: MLB, you collect and manage a lineup of officially licensed player cards (NFTs), earning points based on real-life player performance.
As you enter tournaments and earn XP points, you can win rarer cards, which can then be sold on the game marketplace for increasing amounts of money.
If Sorare MLB is anything like Sorare Football there will be $$$ prize pools as well, in the form of ETH or fiat.
Sorare has secured licensing from all 30 MLB teams, which is great news for project credibility and the long-term prospects of the game. Sorare Football has been going strong since 2018, with millions of dollars traded every year.
Players are endorsing the project as well, here is Aaron Judge tweeting out his support, and featuring in a video:

How does the game work?
In the game, you manage a simplified 7-player baseball team, choosing players from your collection based on how you think they’ll perform in a 3-day stretch of upcoming games.
A Sorare: MLB roster looks like this:
1 Starting Pitcher
1 Relief Pitcher
1 Corner Infielder (which can be a 1B, 3B, or DH)
1 Middle Infielder (which can be a 2B, SS, or C)
1 Outfielder
1 Extra Hitter (this can be any hitter)
1 Flex (this can be any player)
There are five scarcity levels of NFT cards (from common to unique), allowing players to enter different tournaments. And higher-level cards earn points at a higher multiple.
Along with card type, cards can have other rarity features – for example, if a card is the first in its batch, or if its serial number matches the player’s jersey. Here are the complete elements of a card.
Cards also increase in levels and XP based on player and team performance. We recommend having a quick read of card level and bonus to understand how you'll be upgrading your player cards.
Playing Sorare MLB: first steps
Sign up for some free cards and choose your lineup for game week 3 (starts Friday, Jul 29)
Buy or trade for better players before teams lock in (newly minted cards are sold in auctions)
Get tournament points and rewards based on the real-life performance of your players
Sell (or purchase) cards on the secondary marketplace as you earn more valuable cards or look to evolve your team
In game week 1, the first-ever tournament was won by this impressive lineup, which scored 296.10 based on the Sorare points system:

And the team manager ARNAUNYMOUS got a limited card in return:
What do you get for winning the first-ever Common All-Star Competition?
Oh, just a Shohei Otani limited card! 🔥

Game week 3 starts on Friday (29th) this week. We’ve just started playing ourselves – so look out for a more in-depth guide on how to play Sorare: MLB at some point soon.
Here’s our first free card pick (you get 1 when signing up). Who would you choose?

Sorare: MLB
We're thinking Alvarez or Ohtani....Alvarez may be the best hitter in baseball, but Ohtani is a god of the diamond.
Who you will choose?!
Flippers Corner

We've been tracking high ROI wallets, here’s what they have been purchasing recently. We do not recommend buying these projects, DYOR, as you could likely be someone’s exit liquidity.
Here's what they're buying today:
An anime project, Isekai Meta looks like it could’ve been designed by Gibli Studios. They’ve been dragging out their mint over the last few days, with the public raffle selling out in around 10 seconds. Seeing a lot of smart money buying into this today. 750 Sales in 24 hours, 0.43 ETH Floor Price.
Getting Azuki 2.0 vibes with this one, let's see how it delivers in a bear market though.
With Ledger getting into the NFT space (which we wrote about last week), hopefully, we’ll see fewer people losing their NFTs to scams. Ledger's site looks great too. The floor price is almost double the mint price of 0.3 already, and with the free special edition Nano X you get with it it’s no wonder there have been 3,358 sales in the last 24 hours. 0.599 ETH Floor price.
