Ledger Stax - the most mainstream Ledger yet

Ledger has announced a new device called the Stax, which was created in collaboration with Tony Fadell, designer of the iPod.

And like the iPod, Ledger aims for this wallet to be their most accessible, mainstream product yet.

The Stax features the "world's first" curved E-Ink touchscreen display, which kind of makes it look like a tiny DVD case.

The screen should mean it's easier to read and sign transactions – plus, you get to name the wallet on its spine (v. helpful if you have a bunch of wallets).

And, your favorite NFTs will display in lock mode!

Ledger says the Stax will be sold by big box retailers like Best Buy, which is a huge win for brand trust and awareness.

The Stax also comes "stacked" with features, inc. USB-C and Bluetooth connectivity, wireless charging, and support for NFTs + over 5000 crypto coins.

What you need to know

  • Hardware wallets are regarded as the most secure way to store blockchain assets

  • Ledger's previous wallet, the Nano, has sold +5 million with no known hacks

  • The Stax comes preloaded with an "Infinity Pass" NFT, which Ledger say they'll reveal more about later

If you're only a little into the crypto world, you're more likely to store your assets on centralized exchanges.

While these exchange apps make it easy for newbies to buy, learn, and trade crypto, they also mean giving up some control over how your funds are secured.

As the collapse of FTX shows, centralized exchanges make user assets vulnerable to mismanagement and shady behind-the-scenes actions.

By creating a simple product with a friendly interface, Ledger is targeting those same crypto holders, who are looking for an easy and secure place to keep their coins.

Ledger is planning to release the Stax in Q1 next year. Pre-orders are now open.

Inhabitants Universe launches DOTs story arc

"A decade after the Pulse, Earth's brightest minds were asking: should we send hyper-intelligent robots to space?"

That's the tagline for the latest narrative arc in Pixel Vault's tokenized universe, Inhabitants.

DOTs stands for "Designated Observational Travelers." They're a race of cute AI robots, designed to travel the solar system and explore potentially habitable planets after the earth was affected by a mysterious "pulse."

The DOTs story arc will be told throughout next year, with the little bots set to become a new type of token within the Inhabitants' ecosystem.

You can mint a DOT using the project's MintPass 2 NFT from this Friday 9th December.

According to the latest content from Inhabitants, DOTs were created with all the best intentions by the AI lab Genesynth Industries – and were raised lovingly by their owners in "digital creches."

However, like any good dystopian sci-fi AI, it turns out DOTs have their own plans...

What you need to know

  • Inhabitants blends narrative lore, character IP, comics, and gaming into a blockchain universe with unique ownership options

  • The Inhabitants community holds governance rights through the UPDAO

  • Pixel Vault renamed the Inhabitants universe from "MetaHero" in October

  • DOTs are the latest MetaHero segment to be reimagined within the Inhabitants Universe

You can watch the first installment of the DOTs storyline here - told using Inhabitant's awesome comic book art style.

See you tomorrow!
