Good morning, good afternoon and goodnight. We like to cover all our basis' here at Decentra Daily.

Today we have the top threads that bring the 🔥 and 💡 from this past week in Web3!

Decentra Daily's Threads of the Week

1. on those huge CryptoPunk sales, from @themlpx

some nice detective work on where funds from one of the largest recent NFT sales went 🕵️‍♀️

hey I’m new! what happened here?

This is a CryptoPunk!

  • CryptoPunks is one of the iconic NFT collections. there’s 10,000 of these algorithmically generated pixelated heads, each with a unique combination of cyberpunk-ish traits. There were the first 10k pfp collection (history!!!!!)

  • Crypto DJ @seedphrase sold two of his CryptoPunks last week (inc. the one above), raking in 4280 ETH – that’s over $5 million dollars…

looks like @seedphrase kept most of the revenue while investing heavily in several currently popular projects: Creepz, Doodles, and Wolf.Game🐑

the wallet that made the Punk sales is now the top holder of Cold Blooded Creepz + another wallet associated with @seedphrase is the top holder for Wolf Game Land.

according to @Wongsworth, @seedphrase is the third-largest $WOOL holder – that’s the Wolf Game currency 👀...Wongsworth owns an A8 Wolf (top asset in WG) so he knows his shit.

2. feeling bullish about Nike’s web3 plans, from @bonbonbagoon

no big brand has entered web3 as successfully as Nike, and judging by this recent RTFKT patent for skins vials 👟🧪 that trend seems set to continue.

hey I’m new! what are RTFKT skins vials?

  • Nike and RTFKT studios’ CryptoKicks lets users own tokenized digital Nike shoes

  • early adopters got Cryptokicks NFTs by buying a qualifying pair of physical sneakers. now you can pick up a pair on marketplaces like OpenSea

  • CryptoKicks are customizable via "skin vials." vials let owners change the look of their kicks, similar to how Nike offers real-life shoe personalization

@RTFKT skin technology could be going web3-wide, dynamically appearing in digital assets, video games, IRL locations, and VR.

the patent gets pretty ambitious, including potential use cases for skins as power-ups in games, entry tokens to parties and events, and triggers for personalized ads. the doc also talks about tech for having IRL events dynamically affect the appearance of CyptoKicks.

3. how many people are using Dencentraland? from @0x_shake

it’s not super controversial to say that Decentraland isn’t currently living up to its $1.2 billion market cap. low-quality gameplay and graphics, plus questionable utility, have left many doubtful about the project’s long-term prospects.

hey I’m new! what’s Decentraland?

  • one of the OG metaverse projects. Decentraland is an online 3D world where people can own land (LAND) and assets (WEAR), and trade them on the platform’s marketplace

  • Decentraland has its own cryptocurrency, $MANA

  • also… Decentra Daily is not connected to Decentraland!

most worrying is how empty the platform often seems. some sources put daily active user numbers at just 500. others say ~10,000.

maybe it’s 500 at a single moment and 10,000 over a day? there’s a lot of disagreement here.

either way, it doesn’t seem like enough!

4. about that huge BNB hack, from @0xfoobar

BNB & other chains were scrambling to shut down malicious activity yesterday evening, as a hacker attempted to launder around 2 million BSC 🔓💰 that’s nearly 1.5% of all circulating coin!

hey I’m new! what happened here?

  • the blockchain BNB, founded by popular crypto exchange Binance, got hacked yesterday – big time

  • around 2 million tokens were stolen, worth around half a billion dollars

  • unlike some hackers who try to get funds out of web3 in one big transfer, this one scattered their haul across a range of different blockchains and stablecoins

  • large chains like Tether blacklisted the address associated with the hack, in an attempt to stop funds disappearing into the wider ecosystem

  • after freezing their chain, BNB posted that normal service is resumed and significant funds were recovered – $100 million was the final number reported stolen.

gotta give it to the web3 community – people know how to sleuth!

the official statement from the Binance chain:
