Art Blocks

Art Blocks is leading the way for generative art, just as Cryptopunks led to way for generative profile pictures (pfps).
It is a trailblazing platform that is purely focused on programmable generative art on the Ethereum blockchain.
When minting occurs, you pay using ETH, and then a randomly generated version of the project you minted is assigned to you.
There are different types of of artwork on Art blocks, including static images, 3D models, or even interactive experiential artworks.
Different Art blocks collections

There are 3 different collections in Art blocks, here's a rundown on them:
This is the crown jewel collection of Art blocks. Art blocks has a curation board that selects the projects that are released in the curated collection.
The collection consists of a group of projects that push boundaries in generative art through their technical innovations, as well as beauty.
Curated Collection projects are released on a regular schedule, grouped into a quarterly series. So you have a few pay-checks to save up between drops!
Artists who have released artwork in the Curated Collection can then deploy projects in the Playground.
Experimentation is encouraged in the playground, but Art blocks also ensures that their standards are met, by implementing some quality controls....sorry rogue artists!
If you don't want to wait for approval for the curation board, or aren't successful in your application then don't fret, you can still become an Art blocks artist.
Art blocks also uses the term creative coders for generative artists. And if you wish to try to innovate through your creativity you can likely have your work in the Factory Collection.
Looking to buy an Art blocks piece?
From the above list we can see that if you purchase from the Curated or Playground collections, you're getting a work from an artist that has been approved to a certain standard.
Price reflects this, with generally the Curated Collection garnering the highest prices. You may be able to get cheaper pieces from these artists in the Playground Collection.
Here's an example of a high sale, with this Chromie Squiggle by Snowfro from the Curated Collection sold for 750 ETH last year.
If you want to take a deep dive into generative art, you may be able to find up and coming artists or coders, crafting their magic in the Factory Collection.
In saying all of this, it's never a bad idea to purchase what you like the look of, and it that artist has a following all the better! Because then, at least if your piece of art goes to 0 you'll have something you like to look at.
Winners and Losers

The projects that have stood out to us the most in the past 24 hours, the good, and bad.
Winner: We Are Itsuki - Floor price up 127% in the last 24 hours (0.033 ETH → 0.075 ETH)
Calling themselves a Green Chip NFT (clever), We Are Itsuki is a female-focused, mostly female led project that promises to plant a tree for every mint. These PFPs look like forest sprites from an anime movie, with plans for merch, a P2E game, and vague promises to help empower women. We’ll see what they can accomplish.
Loser: The Saudis - Floor Price down 26% in the last 24 hours (0.8 ETH → 0.59 ETH)
So, The Saudis have been interesting to watch. Really blew up this past weekend, with a public mint price of 0.05555 ETH, volume skyrocketed and they were the number 2 NFT traded by volume. Not sure if this is just untapped buyers in the Arab world or what, but this was a big success. It looks like things are settling down here, and the floor has fallen from .8 ETH to .59 ETH in the last 24 hours.
