GM daily-ers!

GM and welcome to Decentra Daily.

It’s our rootin’ web3-tootin’ threads of the week. Round em up, boys!

Today,

Up first, @nftnow shows us what to look forward to in NFTs this month

Hey, welcome to another edition of web3 threads of the week! Glad to have you here.

June is shaping up to be a massive month for NFTs – at least, according to this thread from NFT Now, kicking off today’s email.

Here are the events they’re looking forward to over the next four weeks:

  • New seasons of DeGods and Y00ts

  • Memeland is expected to start holder presales for its upcoming $MEME token.

  • Pudgy Penguins toys will become available in Europe and Asia.

  • Azuki is holding a big ol’ party in Vegas

  • Yuga will launch its strategy game, Legends of The Mara.

Plus, it also looks like Amazon’s NFT marketplace will go live. It's an action-packed month, so stay tuned to Decentra Daily! 👀

Second, @milestones_nft digs into China’s web3 whitepaper

This week, we spoke about the 98-page whitepaper released by the Bejing City Government, outlining its plans for embracing web3 technology.

In this thread, Milestones did the hard work of reading and translating the entire thing. Highlights include:

  • China looks set to embrace NFTs and the metaverse with a “whole-of-government” approach.

  • The paper traces the origins of the metaverse to a Chinese scholar 🤔

  • It discusses web3's potential for creating a viable system of online rights and information flow

  • It outlines the life stages of web3 development and highlights the current focus on gaming.

  • Provinces like Shanghai and Zhejiang have already created web3 development policies.

@JussiKemppainen harnessed consumer AI tools to create this amazing point-and-click game demo

The things you can now make with a handful of AI tools and a sprinkling of know-how are getting crazy.

Here, Game developer Jussi shares their experience using AI image generator Midjourney, plus the new Photoshop AI tool, Generative Fill, to create a 2.5D point-and-click adventure game (well, the demo for one).

Jussi generated images in Midjourney, then used Photoshop to expand them into full rooms.

After letting Blender’s AI “fSpy” scan his images and turn them into 3D spaces, he stitched them together and animated them in Unity.

The results are worth a watch & a like!

On the web3 wire

Do you use any AI therapy services? 🗣️
Decrypt dissects the rising trend for embedding LLM chatbots into “therapy” apps. While chatbots can do a great job of sounding like therapists, this article doubts their ability to deliver genuine support …yet.

OpenAI’s CTO’s Twitter account promotes fake $OPENAI memecoin 🥸
Mira Murati’s account was hacked in an attempt to convince her 125K followers that the AI company is launching its own token. The tweet linked to a wallet-draining website.

Meta to release Quest 3 this fall, reduces Quest 2 price to $299 🕶️
The new headset will be lighter and constructed from more comfortable fabrics instead of plastic. Quest 3 will be the most powerful VR headset in its price range.

@beast_eth on yet another game-changing contract standard, ERC-6551

What’s this, another contract standard? Oh boy, I love new ERCs! Tell me all about the complex blockchain coding behind this latest innovation.

Yeah, ok. I hear you. ERC standards aren’t exactly the most exciting thing in web3.

But as this thread from Beast.eth explains, smart contracts like ERC-6551 unlock serious utility for future NFT projects.

In this case, the new Ethereum standard enables every ETH NFT to have its own wallet.

In other words, tokens can now be tied directly to specific NFTs, rather than a general wallet.

Check out Beast’s thread for how this opens up new rewards and staking options, plus other use cases.

@DigitalOptimyst gives us the lowdown on Wolf Game’s most-desired asset, the Wolves

Over in a more rural corner of the metaverse, the small but committed Wolf Game community continues to farm Sheep and fend off hungry Wolves to earn $WOOL.

In this thread, one of those industrious farmers, Digital Optimyst, explains the role of Wolves in the game’s mechanics.

The prized Wolves offer the highest risk-reward option for players of the popular web3 strategy game, making them the go-to for thrill-seeking degens.

On one hand, Wolves can accumulate assets quickly by stealing from Sheep and participating in PvP games.

However, those powers come with a higher risk of failure and wasting of precious resources.

@xdereklau talked to a bunch of web3 game founders to find out how they view the current state of the industry

On the subject of web3 gaming, developer Derek recently spoke to 20 founders, investors, and builders in the web3 gaming industry – sharing some key takeaways about the near future of the industry.

According to those behind the wheel, finding a product-market fit for web3 gaming is still a challenge, but the belief remains that web3 mechanics like “play-2-earn” will find a mainstream audience.

Most studios are also still on the “core loop” development stage, aiming to nail down the gameplay before web3 elements are incorporated.

@maxhertan gives us Jack Dorsey’s morning routine – ’cause why not?

If the “morning routine” thread is not a staple of Twitter threaddom, then I don’t know what is.

So here’s one, courtesy of Max Hertan and Twitter’s own Jack Dorsey.

Of all possible morning routines, it’s also probably not a bad one to follow, considering that the Dorsel Fin (that’s what his close friends call him) has built two, billion-dollar companies.

What’s on Jack’s to-do list? He starts with a 5 AM ice bath, followed by an hour of meditation and “hydration rituals,” then walks 5 miles to work, listening to podcasts.

And finally, @StepnEurope takes Photoshop’s Generative Fill to the world’s most loved memes.

Hey, you made it all the way to the end of another email! Damn, friend. You’re the best. For real.

If you did read down to here, we could really use your help in sharing Decentra Daily and spreading the word about our web3 news summaries.

We’d sure appreciate a share, a testimonial, or a recommendation to a friend. 🙏

Anyway, ST3U is here with more Generative Fill antics for the last thread of the week.

He fed some of the most recognizable memes (the parts inside the white squares ⬆️) into Adobe’s new AI tool and asked it to outpaint each image, “revealing” what lies outside the frame.

Are you like me – do you instantly form false memories when you look at these? Scary stuff.

Want more cool Generative Fill examples? Here’s another thread compiling the latest demos, by @_Borriss_
