New trailer for Symbiogenesis & a Bankless website

New Symbiogenesis website and trailer

This week, we got a 45-second teaser trailer for the upcoming gamified NFT project, Symbiogenesis – from gaming studio Square Enix.

While there's not too much to see in the teaser, we do get a first peek at the villages, towns, and countryside inside the "floating continent."

Plus, the teaser has an awesome soundtrack with classic Japanese gaming vibes. 🏎️

Refresher: SYMBIOGENESIS is a 10K collection where holders will get the chance to "untangle" an extended narrative based on which NFTs they collect.

As a major gaming studio, Square Enix is facing a major online backlash for launching an NFT project. So we'll see if Symbiogenesis' story and artwork have enough substance to defeat the FUD.

A full website for the project is set to launch this Friday (17th).

Bankless 2.0 website with digital collectibles

Popular Bankless podcast, whose tagline, "It’s time to break up with your bank," couldn't really be more relevant right now, has expanded its ecosystem with a full website.

Called Bankless 2.0, the site lets subscribers or "citizens" mint badges, unique usernames, and NFTs of podcast episodes.

The website also offers POAPs – blockchain "memories as digital mementos" – and has crypto payment functionality thanks to a partnership with Coinbase.

To celebrate the expansion, Bankless Subscribers can mint a free, commemorative Bankless 2.0 Launch Badge via the member dashboard.

Pixel Vault released a whitepaper for its web3 game, BattlePlan!

Last week, Pixel Vault shared a bunch of new details about its upcoming web3 game, BattlePlan!

BattlePlan! expands the lore and ecosystem around Pixel Vault's Inhabitants NFT collection – with a selection of community-voted avatars appearing as playable characters in the game.

BattlePlan! will be a PvP auto-brawler – which means players face up against other players, pick teams of battlers, select their attacks, defenses, and weapons, then watch as the carnage unfolds.

BattlePlan! will also be the first game to launch on Pixel Vault's recently unveiled blockchain gaming platform/protocol, Reboot.

While you won't need to understand (or care) about Reboot to enjoy BattlePlan!, the game has been designed to show off some of Reboot's most interesting features.

For example, playing BattlePlan! will require game credits, arcade-style. You'll be able to earn credits through gameplay, or top-up your balance via ETH.

There'll also be smart player matchmaking, and interoperability of rewards and rankings between BattlePlan! and other games built on the Reboot platform.

• Battles will involve 3 characters on each team

• They'll take place across multiple rounds

• Players have 6 lives before Game Over

• The game will launch in Alpha with new features dropping each season

Because BattlePlan! is a web3 game, there's also the "metagame" to consider.

We've spoken about metagames before, in relation to another popular web3 game, Wolf Game.

In any game with tradeable assets and an external marketplace, players can compete on two levels:

1. There's the gameplay. The characters, battles, missions, and other things that happen inside a video game.

2. Then there's the "metagame." The strategizing about how to acquire game tokens/assets in the marketplace.

Being good at web3 games isn't just about being a pro gamer. You also need to leverage the game's rules to earn the most game tokens.

Zentensivist, who's a big name within the Inhabitants community, thinks there are at least 4 different metagames you can play within BattlePlan!

They call them the Gladiator, Bard, Trader, and Financier...
