Today,

@harry_forj spots clues hidden in a Yuga Labs map

Yuga Labs have been shipping in 2023!

Alongside The Trial of Jimmy the Monkey, the studio's other big project, The Otherside, is also getting a standalone narrative adventure.

Called Legends of The Mara, it's described as "A stand-alone 2D experience", due after the second live demo of Yuga's metaverse, coming this spring.

Yuga hasn't spilled much about LoTM yet, leaving apes (and kodas) to search for clues in existing promo material.

In this thread, @harry_forj extracts some intriguing info from a seemingly decorative "star map".

They say that images of Otherside elements including 4 minerals, 3 Kodas, and 7 missions can be found hidden in the picture.

Can't see them? Try the inverted color version of the map that @harry_forj also tweeted.

@waleswoosh on the best way to avoid an airdrop endgame

@waleswoosh writes so many alpha threads, they may as well get a regular segment in our roundup.

This week, they take on the subject of token airdrops – degens' favorite reward for holding project assets.

High-profile airdrops like $BLUR and $APE offer tantalizing instant riches, but projects can only distribute so many rewards before beginning to dilute ecosystem value.

How to avoid an airdrop inflation endgame while keeping degens happy?

@waleswoosh says the answer lies in repeatable products, such as wearables, in-game loot – or PROOF's Grails pass, which rewards holders with exclusive monthly artworks.

@Ivan87403 on whether BAYC could be an MLM?

Speaking of BAYC airdrops, here's a provocative thread from @Ivan87403.

They say the sale of airdropped assets to new buyers creates a structure that's not so different from an MLM.

In other words, holders make money by selling second-tier assets to new holders – who only make money by recruiting another batch of holders.

And the whole thing rolls on, getting less profitable with each iteration.

@Ivan87403 even draws parallels between common MLM practices, like a strict culture and vague IP benefits, and the wider BAYC ecosystem.

Thoughts? 🤔

On the web3 wire

Tencent holds a global web3 summit in Singapore 🎤The tech giant announced it will co-develop a suite of blockchain API services.

$STX surges thanks to a growing association with Ordinals 📈Stacks is up over 100% this week, although the connection to Ordinals isn't super clear.

The original metaverse novel is up for auction at Sotheby's 📖Here's a chance to own the manuscript for Neal Stephenson’s Snow Crash, which features the first printed use of the term "metaverse".

@jessepollak explains how and why Coinbase built Base

A thread on the week's biggest news – Coinbase's new L2 Ethereum sidechain – from one of its builders.

@jessepollak lays out why and how they made Base, and how this helps Coinbase start moving away from "web2 products with some crypto in them" to truly decentralized apps.

@gmoneyNFT with his take on the creator royalties debacle

A thread on last week's biggest news – Opensea's capitulation to Blur and other NFT marketplaces who'll only enforce minimal royalties.

@gmoneyNFT thinks that the future of NFT markets could lie in smaller, curated platforms that support niches and specific communities.

@rektfencer shares 5 exciting NFTFi projects to watch

In this thread, @rektfencer profiles the NFTFi projects they believe will have a big year, including BendDAO and nftperp.

What is NFTFi? The term covers projects that provide NFT financial services, letting you stake, borrow against, and take out positions on NFTs.

@juanbuis shows how, every week, we get closer to a Blade Runner future

Or maybe it's Black Mirror? Either way, @juanbuis squeezes into the roundup with this two-tweet thread on an AI XR product from Wist Labs.

What does it do? It lets you relive memories by overlaying iPhone videos onto the locations they were shot, using augmented reality.

Is it cool, or creepy? Let @juanbuis know by voting in his poll.

@liamherbst_ on Machi Big Brother's hold on the NFT market

If you've been following NFT trading volumes this week, you'll know things are getting crazy thanks to Blur's bidding incentives.

Perhaps the most degen airdrop farmer of them all was @machibigbrother, who spent thousands of ETH to scoop up over 100 Bored Apes.

How will Machi empty his bags to claim $BLUR?

@liamherbst_ covers the options in this thread, including slowly selling, finding an OTC deal, or dumping them in one go.

@k2_nft with some airdrop farming live commentary

And, if you haven't been following the $BLUR bidding wars, and want to see what it looks like on the front lines, take a look at this thread from @k2_nft.

(Who should definitely get into NBA commentating.)

Just don't ask me who's winning or losing. 😂 🤷‍♀️

And finally, @memotv with another AI time-traveling effect

@memotv ends today's roundup with a thread about an AI filter trending on TikTok.

Wanna see yourself as you looked 30, 40, or 50 years ago? Now you can with better-than-ever fidelity.

Just don't let it spark an existential crisis!

As @memotv says, the internet's getting weirder. Soon, there'll be zero connection between real life and what we see on our screens...

Enjoy the weekend & I'll see you in the next Decentra Daily 👋
