Project origins

Memeland was created in April '22 by meme aficionados 9GAG, the longstanding site for viral clips and content that's recruited more than 200 million social followers.

Even if you haven't heard of them, you've probably seen their memes.

Remember condescending Willy Wonka, crying Michael Jordan, grumpy cat? Ahh, the good times.

9GAG founded Memeland with the idea of becoming an open web3 space with no firm roadmap – where holders and content creators get value back for contributing to the community.

Utility with few roadmaps

The focus with Memeland is on observing and responding to web3 trends, putting their spin on formats pioneered by other projects, rather than trying to break brand-new ground.

So what's in the ecosystem?

• Cream of the crop

Memeland's first NFT drop in June '22 was You The Real MVP, a set of trophies "forged in Memeland" that act as an alpha-group membership pass.

Holders get things like priority minting and private discord access – and they turned out to be one of the last year's smartest buys.

• Lowly potato

A month later, Memeland planted 9,999 NFT seedlings on the blockchain, which later sprouted into the chipper characters that make up the Potatoz collection.

Potatoz has seen a jump in floor price over the past weeks after it was confirmed that holding them provides entry/utility in Memeland's most recent drop ⬇️.

At the time of writing, they hold a 1.7 ETH floor – decent considering they began as a free mint!

Like MVPs, Potatoz bestow entry into Memeland.

• Captain of the ship

Then, at the beginning of this month, with a mint price of 1.069 ETH, came Captainz.

Catpainz is described as Memeland's primary utility collection, needed to fully interact and benefit from upcoming ecosystem features like a $MEME token and metaverse Treasure Islandz.

Captainz chests were recently unveiled from under their pirate flags, revealing whether holders pulled "humans", " krakens", or rare "aliens".

So what's next for this project?

This week, Captainz questing went live – a staking feature where holders can combine Memeland NFTs to build pirate crews and "roam the broken seas" (stake their assets) to accrue daily rewards.

Beyond that, Memeland is an ever-growing ecosystem. Projects in the works include:

This week's crypto forecast 🌦

S&P 500

• The $SPX had its first daily close above the downtrend line (used to mark local tops for more than a year now)

• It's vital the index holds at 4000. If it starts breaking below, it will be considered a swing failure pattern (a fakeout)

Dollar index

• The $DXY chart tells us to be cautious with risk assets

• It's sitting at high timeframe support, which can provide a decent reversal, even if it's for the short term

• That could cause pain to crypto & stocks

Bitcoin

• I don't think we'll see a deep pullback of $BTC until we reach at least $24-25k

• I also don't rule out the possibility of it pushing to $28-29k, trapping late longs before crashing down

• Once BTC reaches its target and starts consolidating, we'll see money rotate into altcoins
