National Lampoon web3 studio opening & NFT mint today
National Lampoon is back and ready to party like it's 1978.

The satirical magazine and comedy franchise that brought you movies like Vacation, Animal House ...and a bunch of terrible spinoffs is now a web3 studio with a genesis NFT.

Before you chug that beer bong and start a food fight, let me break down the project whitepaper for you:
National Lampoon was a boundary (and taste)-pushing comedy brand that lasted until the 90s
The NL web3 studio is "a home for fresh content, raw and unfiltered by the limits of modern-day culture..."
To access the ecosystem and get a monthly airdrop of the magazine (reimagined in a multimedia digital format), you'll need a poison pill NFT.

Whadaya get with a Poison Pill NFT?
Swallowing a Poison Pill unlocks archive magazines, lets community members submit jokes and content, and gives them the chance to win tix to IRL events.
Whatโs the Poison Pill๐? Well we ainโt shilling your pappyโs placebo bucko... ๐งต๐

Mint details:
Mint begins Tues 24th
public sale opens in the afternoon
Price: 0.2eth
Total supply: 4,669
Launching with the magazine will be an interview show hosted by J1mmy.eth (confirmed guests include Yuga Labs Founders), comedy roast nights, and a revival of the Lampoon's beloved High School Yearbook.

Should National Lampoon stay in the 20th century?
The National Lampoon's cynical, weird, semi-porno magazine had the power to be shocking and subversive โ and sometimes tipped over into offensiveness.
Their movies tended to tip that balance further in the wrong direction...

Stream Animal House today and it's not a comfortable watch. Ignorant, sexist (and other -ists), and downright criminal in parts.
Times change. That's one thing. But reading this whitepaper, there's a suspicious number of references to being "edgy," pushing the boundaries, and providing an "antidote" to today's censorship of comedy.
Which means there's a chance this new version of the franchise will be like one of Joe Rogan's rants about how comedians can't say anything anymore. "Thanks a lot woke culture etc etc." ๐๐
So we'll see if National Lampoon 3.0 can put out stuff that's offensively funny โ and not just offensive.

Microsoft is now officially behind the wheel at OpenAI
It's official: OpenAI and Microsoft are taking their partnership to the next level with a multi-year, multi-billion dollar investment.
This is the third and biggest phase of MSFT's involvement, following investments in '19 and '21.
But what does this partnership mean for us?
For starters, Microsoft is getting involved with OpenAI's supercomputing research to build the next set of AI capabilities.
They'll also continue to build out Azure's cloud infrastructure to help B2B customers build and run AI-powered apps.
Maybe most interesting:
Microsoft will deploy OpenAI models in their current consumer products โ so we could see the company's revolutionary Chat interface appearing in Windows applications.
In this next phase of our partnership with @OpenAI, we will deliver the best AI infrastructure, models, and toolchain for customers to safely and responsibly build and run their applications on Azure.

With so much ChatGPT chatter doing the rounds, it's getting hard to know what to say or think about OpenAI's super accessible Large Language Model.
What are its best use cases? What are its limitations?
Are the constant screenshots of ChatGPT feeds posted by Twitter influencers actually that impressive?
Here's another ChatGPT story to get you thinking โ it just passed the US medical licensing exam. ๐
Two #artificialintelligence programs, #ChatGPT and Flan-PaLM, have passed the #USMLE, according to two recent papers published in @medrxivpreprint and @arxiv, respectively.

Blur users' loyalty tested with token delay
Looks like Blur, the aggregate marketplace that lets you trade NFTs across marketplaces, hit a snag with its highly-anticipated token launch.
$BLUR this month? Fuhgeddaboudit. They're now aiming for February 14th โ Valentine's Day.
$BLUR is launching February 14
We know this is past our initial estimate of January and weโre sorry for the delay. Weโre trying new things and the extra two weeks will allow us to deliver a launch that hasnโt been done before. Airdrop 3 will continue until then.

Blur has been building anticipation for its token for a while, airdropping NFT 'care packages' to the platform's most active traders.
With the BLUR token, users will be able to take profit from the marketplace and get governance rights
โ which will be great, when it exists. Right now, this delay is testing the loyalty of some Blur users:

Another month of bids lmao

Part of the reason for the agitation is that Blur's airdrop campaign is incentive-based, with this 3rd phase rewarding users who place lots of bids on the site.
But hey, who knows. Maybe the delay just gives you more time to earn points before Airdrop 3. ๐คทโโ๏ธ
