#133 - Web3 threads 🧶 of the week

GM daily-ers!

GM and welcome to Decentra Daily.

We're the newsletter that ends every week with a roundup of the best web3 threads from the past 7 days.

Today,

Web3 threads of the week

@ElenaaETH explains why Azuki is partnering with "China's YouTube"

Chinese video-sharing site BiliBili might only be about 1/10th of the size of YouTube right now – but it's growing rapidly, especially among younger viewers.

BiliBili's started as a site for sharing anime, cartoons, and gaming videos, and it still hosts lots of content within those genres.

Enter: Azuki, the anime-themed NFT collection. They've partnered with BiliBili, allowing holders to create official "diamond" profiles on the site and use Beanz emojis.

Why though? As @ElenaaETH says in her thread, encouraging the Azuki community to interact with BiliBili users should help grow support for anime within web3 – and build bridges between two big 2D art-centric communities.

@ElenaaETH is another NFT news daily-er, rounding up mints, floor price changes, and project announcements in her daily threads. Give her a follow!

@CryptoKaleo tries to convince you the next mini-bull market is already happening

Are you feeling less FUD in 2023?

Markets are looking a lot brighter since the new year, leading some to announce we've reached the bottom of the bear. 👀

In this thread, @Cryptokaleo goes a step further, claiming the next mini-bull run has already started. So what's his argument?

  1. ETH is climbing alongside NFT monthly volume – something also happened during the July '21 bull

  2. Bluechip projects continue to attract new investors, and Kaleo thinks that buyer confidence will eventually spill over into "new retail"

  3. Kaleo thinks new ATHs for both NFT volume and unique buyers could come in '24 or even this year...

@MakadiaHarsh shares 8 Google Chrome extensions that are guaranteed to ⬆️ your office efficiency

What Google Chrome extensions are currently running in your toolbar?

Here are mine (pretty boring):

If you're like me and under-utilize the power of Chrome, @MakadiaHarsh's got you covered.

Their thread lists some office-friendly extensions designed to make your job quicker, easier, and less repetitive. Including:

  • Ellie, the email assistant who can write replies that match your style

  • Snoozetabs, which lets you hide and retrieve groups of tabs

  • eesel, which shows shortcuts to your most-visited apps & docs when you open a tab

On the web3 wire

@heyBarsee keeps the efficiency hacks rolling with these AI tools

GIMME MORE TOOLS.

ok, ok! @heyBarsee adds to the list of work-life hacks with these AI-powered apps and websites.

My favorite from the list? Aside from Midjourney (which I use to make Decentra Daily's artwork) I like Murf, the AI text-to-voice generator that sounds scarily real.

@RogerDickerman puts this week's Aku pump into context

The floor price for Akutars broke 0.4 ETH for the first time since early November this week.

Aku's Head of Web3, Roger Dickerman, is here with a thread to contextualize the pump.

He says the key factors behind increased activity include Pranksy Tweeting about his collection and scooping up 50 more Akutars.

Plus, the enthusiasm that Mica Johnson showed in a Swagger Society Spaces seemed to be contagious throughout the community.

@Kingtut_eth shares some soothing imagery from 10 followable digital artists

Did you catch #PortfolioDay on Twitter last week?

I enjoyed scrolling through visuals from digital artists across the globe, and it got me thinking that we should have a regular digital art section in Decentra Daily...

For now, though, here's @Kingtut_eth with samples from 10 artists who are killing it in their respective fields.

Just look at this eye feast:

@sully_finance on the NFT project we dove into earlier this week: Checks VV

It's always exciting when an NFT project graduates from a free mint or cheap Open Edition into "potential-blow-up" status.

The latest collection to see this kind of momentum is @jackbutcher's Checks VV.

In this thread, @sully_finance recaps the milestones that helped the project spread across the space. They include

  • Jack's slowly-revealing plans for burn mechanics

  • A bunch of derivative collections and images from influencers within & beyond the community.

Decentra Daily's night shift security guard, Wiggles, took a look at Checks in this week's newsletter. Find out his verdict.

@beeple on another of the week's big stories: his studio grand opening

If you missed yesterday's email on the grand opening of Beeple's psychical studio space in Charleston, SC, here's a thread from the man himself.

The event trailer doesn't disappoint, with the artist's trademark enthusiasm, copious use of exclamation marks, and ability to generate hype!!!!

And finally, @ammaar on how easy it was for him to make an AI-powered Batman short movie

Is this piece of Batman fan fiction made by @ammaar using free AI tools (and a lil' Adobe) impressive, or not?

I mean, on one hand – sure it's impressive!

It's a cool video that shows just what you can do with some user-friendly tools + a little know-how and practice.

That's pretty insane, considering consumer AI was barely on the average person's radar six months ago.

On the other hand, I feel like the only reason @ammaar was able to produce content of this quality in less than a workday was by tapping into a big franchise like Batman, which has lots of image and text data available.

Trying to achieve similar results using original ideas is no-doubt possible, but it takes a lot longer, involves more fiddling with AI tools, and needs above-average editing skills.

Now close your laptop, silence your phone, and go enjoy the weekend 👋
