GM daily-ers!

GM and welcome to Decentra Daily.

Congratulations, you made it all the way to another Web3 Threads of the Week! Your prize will be...

These handpicked threads. That is all.

Today,

Web3 threads of the week

@smyyguy on why ETH could be top dog come the next crypto cycle

For @smyyguy, you only have to look at the overall aims and potential market of Bitcoin and Ethereum to realize one thing:

The Flippening — the moment when ETH overtakes BTC as the #1 cryptocurrency – is coming before the end of the next cycle.

@smyyguy, aka Dan Smith, points out that Bitcoin wants to become the world's reserve currency, while Ethereum wants to be the internet's base infrastructure.

While both are lofty aims, post-merge Ethereum is making positive moves toward its goal, facilitating most of web3s ecosystem and economy.

Bitcoin, on the other hand, is at risk of falling away, as it struggles to balance its transaction revenue with its security budget – meaning miner rewards need to be artificially topped up.

There's a bunch more to Dan's argument in the thread, so give it a read and tell us if you agree.

@Gfunkera86 on why you should still be bullish on Pixel Vault

@Gfunkera86 (aka Sean Gearin) is the founder & CEO of Pixel Vault, the web3 company behind Inhabitants NFTs.

In this thread, Sean summarizes Pixel Vaults's 2022 and previews the project's 2023 plans. He admits that some communications were misguided and that newer content has made the ecosystem bloated.

There's a lot to like in the thread:

  • Sean says 2023 will bring a bigger focus on central story-based content

  • The PV "auto-brawler" game is getting closer to release.

But there's also a lot of vague-ass corporate speak – things like "I am going back to our roots and streamlining our storytelling," and, "Behind the scenes, we have developed an expansive framework..."

As usual with Pixel Vault, your reaction to the thread probably depends on your prior opinions.

The web3 community is pretty split between those who think Pixel Vault still deserves our patience and support

– and those who don't want to hear any more from @Gfunkera86 until he produces the goods.

On the web3 wire

@davincithreads with another mega thread on Nouns NFTs

Last week, we featured the NFT tutor @davincithreads' mega thread on Renga.

Here, they're back with another premium-tier compilation on Nouns – the DAO-focused CC0 collection.

Included in this thread of threads:

@opensea continues to champion creator fees – whatever you choose to call them

While other marketplaces have been shifting their stances on creator fees (the % commissions artists get when you sell their NFTs), OpenSea has remained firmly in favor of them.

This week, the world's biggest NFT platform changed how they refer to these commissions – moving from "creator fees" to "creator earnings."

Why? In the thread, OpenSea says the word "earnings" better captures the impact that these small percentages can have on artists' well-being and ability to maintain their careers.

Why not just call them royalties – like they do in the music, film, or publishing industry? OpenSea says that paying a "royalty" could imply more rights to NFT content than you actually have. 🤷‍♀️

@Bullkis1 on how he pulled off the biggest trade in web3 gaming

We wrote about how a Wolf Game player traded 2 ETH of game assets for a CryptoPunk earlier this week.

But here's @Bullkis1 in their own words, explaining their expert moves, which basically boils down to:

  1. Analyze the game rules like a madman 🙇‍♀️

  2. Work out the most profitable in-game assets

  3. DM whoever owns those assets and scoop them up for floor price

  4. Explain your moves to a whale (in this case, Seedphrase)

  5. Sell them for a price that factors in future game utility / profit 🤩

It's been some week for NFT gaming, with BAYC announcing their new mini-game event.

Remember, when it comes to winning web3 games – it's not just about how you play the game: it's about how you play the market.

And finally, @Zeneca_33 on gaining perspective through Stoicism

Life's short – or is it?

As @Zeneca_33 points out, there are 86,400 seconds in each day. And you (mostly) get to choose what to do with every one of them.

Zeneca is a fan of Stoicism, and in this thread, they share how to use a Stoic mindset to be more present – without getting caught up in whatever issues the day may bring.

Have a great wknd 👋  (+ cheer for the Seahawks again!)
